Lia Ivana: “Gondola took away my fear of falling.”

A few weeks ago, Dr. Stefano Tassin and Dr. Chiara Previati returned to the Telestense studios to talk about Gondola AMPS therapy with Daniela Melle. Also a guest on the episode is Maurizio Aversano, an orthopedic technician in charge of the Movement Disorders Center in Milan.

AMPS gondola: 10 years of research

Gondola AMPS (Automated Mechanical Peripheral Stimulation) is the result of years of studies and research conducted to improve the quality of life of patients with gait disorders caused by neurological diseases, such as Parkinson's and Stroke. In fact, AMPS therapy helps to improve certain motor symptoms that specifically affect walking and gait, such as the progressive development of slowness of movement, motor blocks, Freezing of the March, and stiffness, significantly reducing the risk of falls and allowing recovery of a more active lifestyle.

Lia Ivana: “Thanks to Gondola, I have resumed my walks.”

And that is exactly what Lia Ivana, a patient who has been using Gondola for a few months now, talks about during her interview with Daniela. In fact, she recounted that she hardly went out anymore because of her fear of falling, but thanks to AMPS therapy she was able to regain confidence in walking and started going out again. Lia Ivana had already learned about and tried Gondola AMPS 10 years ago in Bologna with very positive and immediate results on her walking and balance, but some initial skepticism combined with the difficulty she encountered at the time in finding additional information about the therapy made her desist from finalizing the purchase of the device. A few months ago, thanks precisely to an episode of the program recorded for Telestense, the woman heard about the therapy again and decided to give herself another chance by scheduling a new visit to test the benefits of stimulation. Luigi, the son-in-law, tells visibly excited:

“Even 10 years ago I already widened my eyes when I saw her walking, and this time I widened them even twice as much!”

Lia Ivana's story is just one of the many testimonies we collect every day in our work, whose main goal remains to help patients with neurological disorders regain their independence.
